5 ways to increase web traffic to your blog

If you are a blogger you will know that blogs are a very popular way of promoting your product or service. They are easy to install, easy to administer and easy to update. The other important thing about blogs is that search engines love them too. The problem that many bloggers face though is a lack of traffic.  You can have the best blog in the world but if nobody visits your blog it is basically worthless.

As a blogger your biggest challenge is getting quality traffic to your blog.  The key is not to simply drive traffic, but rather to drive traffic that is truly interested in the subject you write about or the product or service being offered. So how can you obtain quality web traffic?

Here are five quick ways to increase web traffic to your blog and start seeing great results.

1.   Provide fresh, relevant and useful content on your blog and update your content regularly by adding new posts.  Stay away from the regurgitated garbage that you find in most article directories or PLR sites.  Write your own original content.  Search engines pick up very quickly on regular updates and this can get your blog indexed in a fairly short time.  Make a new post to your blog at least once per day. But be careful. Too many updates per day can harm your search engines position and hits.

2.   Submit your blog to the blog directories.  There are hundreds of blog directories and you should submit your blog to as many of them as possible.  Although some of these blog directories are better than others in terms of providing traffic from the directory itself, submitting to them will increase your link popularity and search engine ranking by getting one way inbound links or backlinks to your blog.  Not all the directories are DoFollow but there is nothing wrong with getting NoFollow links. In fact, you’ll want to get an equal amount of them as well. While they don’t pass on link juice, they do help to associate your site with anchor text.

3.   Subscribe to a good blog ping service.  There are a number of excellent free blog ping services that you can use.  Pinging your blog means that you notify these services that you have updated your blog. The ping services then list your new posts and you get the traffic from them. Although some people say that you can ping once every six hours it is always a good policy to ping a new post only once.

4.  Set up an RSS feed for your blog and add links or buttons to one or more popular RSS news readers so that your readers can subscribe to your RSS Feeds.  The RSS feeds you provide will allow your blog readers to keep up to date with the latest posts on your blog and keep them coming back for more.  It will also bring in more quality traffic as other bloggers who subscribe to the news readers can pick up your content and visit your blog.

5.  Post comments in as many related blogs as you can find.  Look for blogs with content similar to that of your own blog and post comments on them.  You are allowed to include a link back to your blog which provides another valuable backlink.  When you post, try and make a contribution to the conversation.  Do not post junk like “Wow, great blog” or “Yea man, I totally agree” because your comment will be deleted and you will have wasted your time.

Follow these 5 methods and you will start seeing loads of traffic to your blog but there is one more thing you can do.

There is a new Wordpress plugin that will create and submit a new RSS feed to pre-configured RSS Aggregator websites when you publish a new post or page on your blog. This automatically creates a large number of quality backlinks to your blog resulting in getting your blog indexed quickly and ranking well in the search engines.

If you want to get your blog indexed quickly and get more targeted visitors in a short time, take a look at the RSS Power Plus Pro website and get a copy of the free version for starters. You have nothing to lose.
